Assuming that you have a TV there was a good chance you watched the Superbowl 2010, or at least caught a glimpse of through the wide media coverage. The featuring band that headlined the halftime show was The Who. For those unfamiliar with group they are a English band that formed in 60s that were known there live unconventional performances and were seen as the godfathers of punk rock. Definitely one of the most influential groups on today’s musicA few season ago, converse launch a music inspired collection of footwear featuring a collaboration of variety of bands and artists on the famous Chuck Taylor shoe.

Mavado “Gully God” dissapointment
Posted on 3 February 2010 | 4 responses
February 2, 2009 marked the first appearance of Mavado aka Gully God appearance in Edmonton. Like other reggae artists his live “performance” was live and crystal clear, but I feel fell short. Over the past few years I have seen a variety of music artists (Elephant man, Sizzla, Jay-Z, Kanye, Beyonce, Talib Kweli) and it seems like this show was anything, but a show.
To set things straight, Mavado is one of my favorite music artists with countless dope tracks and righteous tunes, but his performance was weak. He had no story, or connection with the crowd. Whenever he made reference to the crowd he called us Canada and not Edmonton, which had me confused. He simply jumped from one hit track to another with no direction, or focus. With so much material to use Mavado could of easily been one of the best concerts of 2010. His intro was soft and simply walked on and sang a random track. Rather then a intro it seems like Mavado just got on stage and sang a song he felt like singing as if it wasn’t planned. His finale was even more disappointing when he finished one of his singles and walked off stage in the middle of it with no outro. No thanks to the fans, no love from his Edmonton supporters, not even a good-bye.
I paid to see a show, yet I have heard better sets put together by local sounds. I don’t know about you, but I would of enjoyed myself better if stayed at home and played my Walshy Killa Amazing Grace CD. With the amount of material Mavado can use to put a set together he has no excuse for such a disappointing “concert”.
On another note its nice to see Reggae artists are on the fitted tip. That baggy shit is dead.

Black on Black
Posted on 15 January 2010 | No responses

Over the last few months I really started to really love my black/black kicks. Most men are programmed to hate everything with color, but I just love how clean black/black can look. What keeps kicks looking timeless is when they are solid in the dominant colorway. Having sneakers with different certain color colorways, or even contrasting stitching can put a shelve life on a pair of kicks, but when they are single color they are almost timeless. Over the last few years only a few brands have dropped single colorway shoes, specifically Reebok, but even they had some slight color variations on the side panels.
Don’t get it twisted who does not like a little flair to their shoes in, but for those who love the complete black on black we got you covered. If you didn’t notice too we just got in Nike Auto Flight High black/black and restocked in the Creative Recreation Cesario High black/black. More pics on the online store.
New Perpective
Posted on 15 January 2010 | 1 response
The way people view the world around them is greatly influence by their perpective. If you have a very optimistic view, usually it because from your experiences. Over the past two years Room 322 has been working to become more then just a store. We love the fact that, similar to the fashion world, we are also constantly changing. Most people would argue that all clothing stores adapt with the fashion trends, but I strongly believe otherwise. Lots of people say “Deadmonton” lack fashion sense, but who is to blame? If people do not have access to the newest and dopest brands, isn’t the responsibility on the retailers to bring it to them?
We want to change the scene in Edmonton when it comes to fashion. This is not an easy task to accomplish, but besides ourselves only a handful of retailers are trying and in my books a few have even given up. This won’t be something Room 322 will accomplish anytime soon, but gradually even if it is one person at a time we will change the way people view lifestyle streetwear.
It was funny today to see at the university a sea of sheep students, dressed all the same. You can not really blame them because retailers at the “biggest” mall in the world basically carry all the brands. Vistors and even people raised in Edmonton get brain washed into thinking WEM is the best shopping due to the vast selection of reatilers, but majority of the stuff is the same. We been trying to get out away from this same problem, but is a issue that we have not completely solved.
With a new angel on things in Edmonton I have blow the dust off the Canon will be doing a lot a lot more photo drops of the Room 322 lifestyle, 2010 is already looking very interesting…
Nonetheless, on the bright side of things at least the snow disappearing!
